Success Stories
Lola
Lola is a 3 year old pug and boxer mix. She is a sweet girl with a great temperament and no behavioral problems even though she had a difficult past. Fortunately, she came to the attention of I.C.A.R.E., a rescue organization operated 100% by volunteers that has saved over 2,000 dogs since its inception in 2010. I.C.A.R.E. placed Lola in a foster home with a family who loves boxers and pugs.
But Lola also had her fair share of medical challenges, and after a series of tests and treatments, was diagnosed in July 2018 with left-sided chronic otitis media and externa. The recommeded treatment was total ear canal ablation (TECA) and lateral bulla osteotomy, a procedure used to manage severe canal or middle ear disease in dogs where other methods of treatments have failed. I.C.A.R.E. filed an application with WeHelpDogs.org for a grant out of its Charitable Fund for Dogs in Need, which was approved and paid for a successful surgery in September 2018.
Lola has since been recovering well with her foster family, who offered Lola their home as her forever home.
I.C.A.R.E. is honored to work with WeHelpDogs.org – The Charitable Fund for Dogs in Need. WeHelpDogs.org provided a grant that paid for a much needed medical treatment for Lola, a sweet dog that had suffered for years. After her surgery, Lola was pain-free. The process to apply for the grant was thoughtful and complete, and WeHelpDogs.org communicated with us on the application. Working together, another dog was saved and found her forever home. We found WeHelpDogs.org shares the same compassion as I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue in seeking the best possible course in helping dogs in need.”
